Pebbles
This is our little Princess Pebbles. She is 8years old and adopted from the Pikes Peak Humane Society when she was 8 weeks old. She is our sassiest cat, despite being the smallest, and prefers to only make friends with people and not animals. Pebbles, in fact, actually used to be quite the bully to the other animals in the house. Of course by the time she developed this attitude she was an adult, and rehoming was out of the question. Most behaviors in animals can be adjusted with proper training, therefore allowing the animal to stay living in their home. Pebbles was provided with more scratching posts, perching places, sleeping spots, toys, litter boxes and extra attention. With all of that, she mellowed out and stopped punking the other animals. (Running up and swatting them and then running away). Now she only lets out a disapproving mewl when the others get to close.
No, cats are not considered exotic pets, however they are a very beloved part of our organization. Cats have been pets for hundreds of years, but for some reason people still struggle with their care, they have a hard time reading cats and think cats are "untrainable." We have 4 very sweet cats that allow us to trim their nails, give them bathes, brush them and even be cooperative for veterinary appointments! We will be showing how we care for our cats, how we train them, and how to read cat behavior. We are also extremely against declawing. Pebbles, if in a less understanding home, could have been declawed for being such a sassy girl. Instead we were able to train her to behave and not use her claws on other animals.
