Cinders

Cinders is our 3 year old suspected bengal mix. Obviously, her coat does not look like a bengal. So why do we think she could be a mix? We have several reasons.
1. Cinders has always been different. Our Founder was fostering kittens for a cat sanctuary and Cinders was one of them. She came from a hoarding house full of all different kinds of breeds of domestic cats, some were also bengals. She has always acted different from the other kittens, and had medical and behavioral issues at a young age and became a foster failure.
2. Even as a kitten, when taken to adoption fairs, she would hiss at people and was very nervous. She had horrible issues with diarrhea as a kitten, and was not good about using her box. She had to be put on an expensive prescription diet. That and cooked meat like chicken seemed to be the only thing that could ease her tummy. Bengals often suffer from IBD and digestive issues.
3. She has eyes colored like gold coins, that are very round, common in bengals.
4. She grew very fast, and into a very large cat. She is a female, and weighs over 10lbs of solid muscle. She has no fat and is built like a pitbull cat and has bolt legs. She is tall and long. She has long canines that stick out of her mouth.
5. Her back legs are noticeably longer than her front legs, this is a common trait of bengals. Her head is also smaller than the rest of her body, and her ears are rounder than my other cats, as with most hybrids.
6. She LOVES water, and has broken two of our fountains playing in them. Bengals are known for their love of water.
7. She likes to talk, and has a high pitched mew as most bengals do.
8. She has energy like no other, we have a 6month old kitten and even she can't keep up with Cinders. She tears through the house, jumps on things, gets into things. She knows how to open cupboards and doors. She is intelligent and persistent. She plays rough. She loves to climb, jump and destroy things. Her energy is reckless and crazy, (I've had cats that get the zoomies for 21 yrs, our other member 50yrs and have not seen a domestic cat with this kind of behavior-Cinders is more intense.)
9. She burrows under blankets or comforters every day when she sleeps. She will not sleep elsewhere. She loves tunnels.
10. She HATES to be held. She also bites.
11. When she turned 2 yrs old she began to have digestive issues once again, was not using the box, and also started to become territorial and aggressive with the other animals. With a lot of time, diet change, enrichment and training, Cinders is now using her box 100% of the time and loves her furfriends.
As of this time there are no accurate DNA tests for cats, so we cannot know for sure whether or not Cinders is part Bengal or not. Due to our previous experience with hybrids, her personality and physical traits, we do believe she has a small amount of bengal in her.
